The fuwa (福 娃) are the five mascots of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Created by Han Meilin, they were inaugurated on November 11, 2005, 1,000 days before the opening of the Olympic Games.
Their names are Beibei, Jingjing, Huanhuan, Yingying and Nini and if spoken aloud they form the phrase Beijing huanying ni (Beijing welcomes you).
